Carrie Lujan
Carrie Lujan is the Communications Manager for the City of Santa Clarita. She oversees the Communications Division which is responsible for press releases, speech writing, event planning, Seasons Magazine, social media, video production, articles, media relations, community relations/engagement, internal communications, crisis communications and more. During her tenure in Santa Clarita, Lujan has brought an out-of-the-box creativity that has taken City communications to the next level. Under her leadership the City has launched award winning public safety campaigns, introduced residents to a new (and already beloved) City mascot, grown social media presence by the millions and revamped long running City events. The Communications Division has been honored with several prestigious CAPIO Epic Awards and 3CMA Savvy awards. In addition, she was named the 2021 3CMA Communicator of the Year and her team was recognized with the 2020 Frank Potter Cowan Crisis Communication Leader Award from CAPIO.
Ms. Lujan is also involved in the Santa Clarita community as the TV host of Community Corner, a board member for Bridge to Home (homeless services provider) and the Salvation Army Santa Clarita Corps.
Patrick Moody
Since 2014 Patrick Moody has been Director of Marketing, Public Relations and Community Engagement for Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, a 337-bed, not-for-profit community hospital and trauma center located in the Santa Clarita Valley, about 30 miles north of downtown Los Angeles. He is responsible for the hospital’s internal and external communications, including media relations and crisis communications. Prior to joining Henry Mayo Moody was a senior advisor at JayRay, a Tacoma, Washington marketing and public relations firm, where he worked with clients on internal and external communications initiatives and provided crisis communications consulting services.
Kevin Strauss
Kevin Strauss is the Communications Manager for the Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency (SCV Water) and is responsible for all internal and external Agency communications. Previously, Strauss spent six years as a Communications Specialist with the City of Santa Clarita. During his career, Strauss has produced a number of award-winning public relations campaigns and led SCV Water’s brand relaunch initiative and crafted the Agency’s first digital media strategy. For his work, he was named the 2024 Communicator of the Year by the California Association of Public Information Officials (CAPIO). When he was with the City of Santa Clarita, the Communications Division was named the 2020 Frank Potter Cowan Crisis Communications Leader by CAPIO for its response to the Tick Fire and Saugus High School shooting in 2019. His work on the Heads Up traffic safety campaign received statewide and national recognition as well. Prior to joining the City of Santa Clarita, Strauss worked for six years in the Athletics Department at California State University, Northridge (CSUN), first as an intern then as Assistant Sports Information Director before being promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Digital Marketing. Strauss earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism with an emphasis in public relations from CSUN. He and his family reside in Santa Clarita.
