Government Communicators Day
Let's Celebrate on February 21st
Government Communicators Day is celebrated annually on the third Friday of February. On Friday, February 21st, 2025, let’s make this one of the biggest Government Communicators Days yet.
Let’s see how many government agencies in California can celebrate their communications staff on their social media on #GovCommsDay2025.
Let’s show our communities the diversity of our skills: We are strategists, advisors, tour guides, spokespersons, photographers, filmmakers, writers, graphic artists, educators, social media curators and emergency responders. We want to see photos and video of you in the field, and getting a rare square on those agency Instagram grids (I know, I know, it’s a rectangle now, but I wanted to rhyme).
Tag @CaliforniaCommunicator or send us a collaboration request. Send photos of you and your team at work to Social Media Chair Eric Palmer at epalmer@regenmonterey.org. We’ll share and repost our favorites.
On LinkedIn, add to the online conversation about Government Communicators Day by posting a reflection on your personal account. We want to hear about lessons learned, your favorite accomplishments or assignments, what brings you the most pride, your growth and your journey.
CAPIO is a special organization because our mission is to “advance public sector communicators.” We do this by inspiring and teaching one another, and by celebrating our members’ and our profession’s big wins—together.
Growing #GovernmentCommunicatorsDay is another way we can build upon that mission, shining a spotlight on the impactful work we do and honoring the storytellers behind the scenes who keep our communities informed, engaged, and connected. Let’s use this day to celebrate each other and continue to elevate the vital work of government communicators in California!
February is #MembershipMonth – We ♡ CAPIO!
Stay tuned to our social media all month long because February is also Membership Month! We will be posting social media contests that encourage members to share their love for our association, your colleagues and our public service as communicators. Follow us on Instagram @CaliforniaCommunicator, Facebook and LinkedIn to participate and win prizes.
