Welcome to the California Association of Public Information Officials’ 2025 annual conference! From April 1-4, we invite you to Soar Higher with your CAPIO colleagues over Napa Valley, California’s famed and picturesque wine country.

Our 2025 theme – Soar Higher – evokes the romantic imagery of Napa’s iconic hot air balloons, soaring over rolling green hills and lush vineyards. It’s also an invitation to reach for new heights in your mastery of public communications. Each year, CAPIO aims high to inspire, elevate and advance public sector communicators with a week dedicated to education, connection, recharging and celebrating excellence.

Our annual conference brings together California’s top experts in our field to discuss current trends, best practices and case studies in areas including media relations, strategic communications, social media, emergency response, branding, emerging technologies, analytics, public speaking and much more. Just as a hot air balloon takes flight and ascends to greater heights, the journey to success in our profession requires a commitment to seeking new knowledge, continuously evolving and networking, and honing your skills.
